The Story Behind the Logo
Once upon a time, in the pursuit of smarter, cleaner construction practices, the Resource Sorter – Construction Course was born. Its mission: to empower teams to sort construction waste with purpose, precision, and pride.
At the heart of this course lies a logo rich in meaning.
The Arrows
Unlike traditional recycling symbols, these arrows are intentionally designed to discourage blindly putting waste into bins. They represent a shift in mindset—from disposal to deliberate sorting. Think before you throw. Every material has a place, and every decision matters.
The Colours
Inspired by the WasteMINZ guidelines, the logo’s colours reflect the key waste streams in construction:
-
Yellow for recyclables
-
Green for organics
-
Blue for glass
-
Brown for concrete, plasterboard, timber, soil
-
Grey for cardboard, paper
-
Black for electronics, metal, tyres
These colours are the New Zealand national colours and serve as a visual guide with their symbols, helping teams quickly identify and sort materials correctly on site.
The Teal Ring
Encircling the logo is a teal ring, symbolising Naylor Love’s pivotal role in developing the course. Their commitment to sustainability and practical site solutions helped shape the course into a tool that’s both educational and actionable.
Together, these elements form more than just a logo—they represent a movement toward responsible resource recovery in construction. A symbol of collaboration, clarity, and care for the environment.
